Cove
This bonnet is one in a collection of bonnets exploring different J-fashion subcultures, including sweet and old school Lolita, Visual Kei, and Decora Kei. I’ve taken inspiration from a lot of different passions that I often incorporate in my work, from childhood toys and cartoons to FRUiTS magazine, which I’ve been collecting for years. With this piece in particular, I took a lot of elements from my own style, using lots of frills and pink tones.
Another important aspect of this project was sustainability and upcycling as much as possible. For this bonnet, I used a second-hand dress and old lace from charity shops, with nearly everything in my pieces being sourced similarly.
Once completed, the collection is going to be styled by different people within the Harajuku fashion community and photographed by me!
